📷 Step 1: Take a Good Portrait Photo

The quality of your final ID photo depends heavily on the source image. For best results, follow these tips:

Stand against a plain, light-colored wall (white or off-white works best). Make sure your face is centered in the frame and both ears are visible. Use even, soft lighting — natural window light from the front is ideal. Avoid harsh overhead lights that cast shadows under your eyes, nose, and chin. If wearing glasses, check that there is no glare on the lenses. Some countries require glasses to be removed entirely for ID photos.

Remove headwear such as hats, caps, or scarves unless worn for religious or medical reasons. Keep a neutral expression with your mouth closed and both eyes open, looking directly at the camera. Take the photo from straight on — your head should not be tilted or turned.

🌍 Step 2: Select Your Country and Photo Type

Browse the country list below the upload area and click on the photo type you need. Each country has specific size requirements measured in millimeters (mm) or inches. The tool automatically crops your photo to the correct aspect ratio for the selected standard.

Popular passport and visa standards:

• 🇺🇸 US Passport — 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm), white background. Same size for US Visa, Green Card, and Driver License.
• 🇬🇧 UK Passport — 35 × 45 mm, light gray background. UK Visa and BRP use 35 × 45 mm with white background.
• 🇨🇳 China Passport — 33 × 48 mm, white background. China ID Card 26 × 32 mm (white or blue for 2nd Gen), Driver License 22 × 32 mm.
• 🇪🇺 Schengen Visa — 35 × 45 mm, light background. Same size for Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Netherlands passports.
• 🇮🇳 India Passport — 35 × 50 mm, white background. Aadhaar is 35 × 35 mm square, PAN Card is 25 × 25 mm.
• 🇨🇦 Canada Passport — 50 × 70 mm, white background (larger than most). Canada Visa is 35 × 45 mm.
• 🇯🇵 Japan Passport — 35 × 45 mm, white background. Japan Visa uses the same dimensions.
• 🇲🇽 Mexico Passport — 25 × 32 mm, white background (child-like proportion).
• 🇧🇷 Brazil Passport — 35 × 45 mm, white background.
• 🇦🇺 Australia Passport — 35 × 45 mm, white background.
• 🇰🇷 South Korea Passport — 35 × 45 mm, white background.
• 🇷🇺 Russia Passport — 35 × 45 mm, white background.
• Custom Size — Enter any width and height manually if your country is not listed.

If your specific ID type is not listed, use the Custom Size option at the bottom of the country list and enter the exact dimensions required by your application.

🎨 Step 3: Choose the Right Background Color

Different ID documents require different background colors. Our tool lets you select from five preset colors or pick a custom color:

• White (#ffffff) — The most common background for passports and visas worldwide. Used by US, India, Canada, Japan, Australia, Schengen, Brazil, South Korea, Russia, and most other countries.
• Blue (#3b82f6) — Required for Chinese 2nd generation ID cards (shenfenzheng) and Chinese residence permits. Also used for driver's licenses in many US states.
• Red (#ef4444) — Used for some Chinese official documents, professional certificates, and certain visa photos.
• Gray (#9ca3af) — Required specifically for UK passport photos. Light gray backgrounds are also accepted for some Schengen visa applications.
• Green (#22c55e) — Occasionally used for specific official documents and professional applications in some jurisdictions.

The AI background removal engine processes your photo and replaces the original background cleanly. The result is a professional, uniform background color that meets official requirements.

⬇️ Step 4: Generate and Download Your ID Photo

Once you've uploaded your photo, selected the country standard, and chosen your background color, click the "Generate ID Photo" button. The tool will:

1. Run AI background removal to extract the subject from the original background
2. Composite the subject onto your chosen background color
3. Crop the image to the exact aspect ratio of your selected country standard
4. Render the final image at 300 DPI for high-quality printing

Processing typically takes 3–10 seconds depending on your device. The AI model runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded to any server. After processing, click "Download" to save the PNG file. You can then print it at any photo kiosk or load it into an online application.

📋 Photo Requirements Checklist

Before taking your ID photo, review this checklist to ensure it meets official standards:

• Front-facing with both eyes visible and open — no side profiles or closed eyes
• Neutral expression with mouth closed — no smiling, frowning, or raised eyebrows
• Plain white or off-white background — no patterns, textures, or objects behind you
• Even lighting — no shadows on your face, behind your head, or on the background
• Head centered and upright — not tilted, turned, or rotated in any direction
• No hats or head coverings — except for religious, cultural, or medical reasons documented in advance
• No glasses if possible — if required, ensure no glare, heavy frames blocking eyes, or tinted lenses
• Recent photo — taken within the last 6 months for most passport and visa applications
• High resolution — at least 600 × 600 pixels recommended; 1200 × 1200 or higher is ideal
• Both ears visible — hair should be pulled back if it covers the ears
• No other people or objects visible in the frame — only the applicant should appear
• Properly exposed — not too dark (underexposed) or too bright (overexposed, blown-out highlights)
