Detailed User Guide
Step 1: Upload Your Image
Click the upload area or drag and drop an image file. Supported formats include JPG, PNG, and WebP. The image loads instantly and a preview appears. The original dimensions are displayed in the sidebar so you know your starting point.
Step 2: Choose Your Scale Factor
Select how much you want to enlarge the image:
- 2x: Doubles the dimensions. A 800×600 image becomes 1600×1200. Best for most use cases — good balance of quality and file size.
- 3x: Triples the dimensions. A 800×600 image becomes 2400×1800. Great for printing at larger sizes.
- 4x: Quadruples the dimensions. A 800×600 image becomes 3200×2400. Best for wallpaper-sized outputs or large prints, but file sizes will be significantly larger.
Step 3: Adjust Sharpening
When images are enlarged, they can look slightly soft or blurry. The sharpening filter adds edge contrast to make details pop. Use the slider to control the strength:
- 0%: No sharpening — smoothest result, good for watercolor-style images
- 50%: Balanced — good for most photos (default)
- 100%: Maximum sharpening — best for text, line art, or screenshots
The preview updates in real-time so you can find the sweet spot. Over-sharpening can introduce halos around edges, so start low and increase gradually.
Step 4: Upscale & Download
Click "Upscale & Download" to process the image at full resolution and save it. Choose PNG for maximum quality (especially for graphics with sharp edges), JPG for smaller file sizes, or WebP for modern efficiency.
Best Use Cases
- Print preparation — Enlarge digital photos to meet minimum print resolution requirements (300 DPI)
- Wallpapers — Scale up images to fit high-resolution monitors (4K, 5K displays)
- Social media — Meet minimum dimension requirements for cover photos and banners
- Presentations — Ensure images look sharp on large projection screens
- Logo scaling — Enlarge small logos or icons for larger formats
- Photo restoration — Upscale old, low-resolution family photos
Pro Tips
- Start with the highest-quality source image you have — upscaling can't create detail that isn't there
- For photos, 2x with moderate sharpening usually gives the best results
- For screenshots or text-heavy images, use higher sharpening (70-100%)
- PNG format preserves sharp edges — use it for logos, icons, and screenshots
- Use JPG format for photographs to keep file sizes manageable at higher scales
- Very large upscales (4x on already large images) may take a few seconds to process
